Think of the deprived &Sponsor a Child

The Haves and Have-nots is an argument, which has been going on for centuries. Nothing, not even technological advances, changes in civilization and increase in education have brought about a change in that mentality. In the earlier times the gentry belonged to the haves and the servant class belonged to the have-nots. Do you find this picture has changed much, not really?

There are thousands living today below the poverty line with little or no access to good food, clothes or shelter. How does one reconcile to the fact that you are one of the privileged? There are so many ways through which we can contribute toward closing this gap. One such option at the top of the list is to sponsor a child today.

What do you really sponsor?

When you decide to sponsor a child, it is but obvious that you would like to know what exactly are you sponsoring and the providing the child with. There are quite a few options; however the most basic is food, clothing and shelter. Most NGO’s have different programs which you can decide to sponsor such as education for children, learning sports or extra-curricular activities etc. Sponsoring doesn’t always mean money; you can even sign up to spend time with the underprivileged children. You can even sign up to teach, motivate or mentor these children.

How do you go about it?

You can sponsor a child a single child or a group. To decide on the program check various NGO’s or charitable organizations for the support initiatives offered. Once you have checked them, you can evaluate and see which program is closer to your heart? Once you have decided make sure you speak to the program director, check for details of the program, its legitimacy and if you would get a receipt for the same. Once you are satisfied you can either pay the money through cheque, or online using you card. If you are close by you can always pay a visit and pay in person.

The charity organizations send you updates regularly after you sponsor a child. You can keep in touch with the child and always ask for details of where the money is being used. A little money goes a long way to giving the needy children a life they deserve. You can always decide to sponsor some other programs or even become a part if you are so inclined. Do your bit today and watch the cycle move forward where you have the needy children grow up to be responsible citizens who could in turn do their bit for other children. Add a little happiness to someone else’s coffer and you are bound to get it back tenfold.
